His Version...
It was the winter of my Junior year at Butler, and it was almost time for the Phi Psi winter formal. I didn’t have a date, and I also had no idea how I was going to get one. Some of the girls at the Kappa house, where I worked, were trying to set me up with one of their sisters, but as usual, I resisted under the pressure. Besides, I had developed a bit of a crush on a cute bubbly girl named Emily.
One Friday night, Emily had stopped by the Phi Psi house, where I lived, and she stopped by my room to say hello. Little did I know, she wiped out running down the stairs to meet up with her girlfriends after leaving and busted her foot. The next morning, I went to Kappa to make breakfast for the girls and saw Emily limping out of the house. This was my in! Because I had a car and she did not, I offered to take her to MedCheck. This was no random act of generosity, as I was in the process of architecting a master plan...

Later that week, I worked up the courage to ask Emily to the formal on Saturday. I caught her lumbering around campus in her combat boot and wasted no time in asking her out. To my dismay, she said “no” on the basis that her brother was coming to Indy to visit. I decided not to attend the formal. My plan was derailed, but alas, I adapted.
The next day, I asked her if she would go to Hollywood Bar and Filmworks with me on Friday before her brother came to town. Fate dealt me a favorable card, and she agreed to see “Catch Me If You Can” on a night which conveniently happened to be Valentine’s Day. Thus began the story of Danny and Emily...
